"Moi!" Mikko sanoi. "Miten menee?"
"Mitäs tässä", Pekka vastasi. "Olen menossa peikonmetsästykseen. Tuletko mukaan?"
Mikko näytti yllättyneeltä. "Ihanko totta? Sehän on mahtavaa! Haen vain peikonmetsästysseipääni!"
"Aina yhtä innoissaan", sanoi Pekka ja nauroi. "Muista pestä hampaat! Peikot vihaavat ksylitolin tuoksua."
"Tottahan toki", vastasi Mikko.
*poistuu paikalta hihitellen*
my word count (according to the nanowrimo counter) is now 13950. today i have written 3,717 words of the most important scenes. i just began chapter nineteen and my text as a whole (counting the chapters written before november) exceeded the 50000 words. i have 82 pages in word, so i could guess i'll be having 120 pages in the final script (in case i need 80000 words to win.) my feeling are pretty good: my plot is doing well, my characters awesome and the descriptions... not bad. the most in the whole world i am irritated when writers can't use diverse expressions as they write! they might describe the environment and action well but in dialogue characters always seem to be "saying" or "answering" something. the most funny thing is when you take a book and find dialogue like this:
"Hi!" Matt said. "What's up?"
"Nothing special," Pete answered. "I'm going trollhunting. You're coming with me?"
Matt looked surprised. "Really? That's awesome! I'll just get my trollhunting-spear!"
"As excited as always," said Pete with a laugh. "Remember to wash your teeth! Trolls hate the scent of menthol."
"Of course," Matt answered.
...this was completely improvised text and i can only say WHAT THE FUCK. maybe i'll stop before my characters start living their own lives and are joined by the white wizard and dark lord. *exits with a giggle*
Chapter Six
I don’t know how the others took it, but what went through my mind was some sort of fire-breathing evil blackness with a pair of red eyes staring from the middle. Judging from the awestruck expressions and theatrical gasps it had to be something big, but that didn’t mean it was bad.
“I cannot find a reason why you would lie,” the earth-councelor spoke. “The situation is curious.”
“How come?” Circus wondered. “We all saw the snowfall.”
“The strongest of earthlings may carry a draw of several elements,” the light-guardian spoke for the first time. He was a low-voiced mountain with long, blonde dreadlocks. “Is this the situation?”
He looked at me as if I would know the answer. The words stuck in my throat.

“And wind with darkness equals cold,” the sexy darkness guardian continued. “I am only messaging what my guardian Severina told me.”
I was starting to get a headache. Now they were talking of the elements as if they could be controlled and summed up for a stew. I really had some things to learn. And I was starting to realize it wouldn’t be that easy to cope with. Rilla’s words of the type 1 kids rang in my head. What if I’d fall into that category and just go crazy of all the amount of paranormal stuff going around me? I’d never get used to anything – I’d stay forever ignorant.
My inner resistance shook me so utterly I had to speak.
“I accept it.” The chatter around me stopped abruptly. “I believe Severina.”
“So you have sensed darkness within you?” Mr. Light quizzed. “But is it also wind?”
“So you have sensed darkness within you?” Mr. Light quizzed. “But is it also wind?”
The way he said it made it almost sound like I had serious problems with gas.
“Seriously, I don’t know,” I blurted. “I just have to find out.”
The next thing what happened was some sort of vote between Aurora and this Severina, and as I had guessed everyone voted for Severina, with the odd exception of Circus. The look in her eyes remained curious as we exit the chamber doors and were picked up by our guardians. Severina was first. She walked up to me and her sexy girl and left almost instantly. I had no time to question her or Aurora. Deep inside me I knew Aurora was my guardian. Yet, as I returned a gaze with her across the room, she only looked at me with an expression of trust and confidence, as if this was meant to happen.
After the blur of blackness faded I noticed we stood on the shore of a lake. Haze hung upon us, blocking the view all around. As soon as I realized what I was seeing I had to smile. Reflected to the purple water was something white and big: something which reminded me awfully lot of a castle. It was completely isolated of the earth. I could see right away the pillars stuck from the bottom of the lake instead of an island. I couldn’t help smiling with amusement.
“She is the home of Ariel and the waterbeings,” Severina explained. Just like Aurora, she used this weird tense when speaking of places. “Strongly elementally connected.”
I took a quick look around and noticed I and Severina were alone.
“Where’s…”
“Talia,” Severina complemented. “At home.”
Severina stared at me like I was a test subject, some sort of sick experimentation. Darkness whirled in her pendant – I could feel myself slowly drowning into it. I turned my expression, shaking my head.

“That’s not my element. Why did you lie to Talia?”
Severina had expected it – as if she knew I could see through her. “It’s complicated.”
“It can’t be! I know what you did to them. And you almost succeeded. Only Circus could resist your spell.”
“You don’t mean-“
I smiled triumphantly. “Yes I do! You hexed them all, used your powers of darkness to trick the councelors into thinking Aurora had mistaken. Isn’t darkness like that? Tricking people into stuff they shouldn’t, plotting behind their backs. I’m familiar with it, because I’ve been a victim. I knew one on earth. You remind me of her.”
Severina was yet calm. “Of whom?”
“Ashley Cera, a narrow-minded bitch who…” I paused, thinking of the negative things she had done. But I just couldn’t. She had affected my mind in more subtle ways than I thought. She was the one who I had to thank I was here.

“She didn’t give me an easy time.”
“But she meant something to you, didn’t she?”
Severina’s words hit me hard. They hit a sensitive part inside me I had been protecting from the outer world, and a strike there was like someone had just gouged my soul. Somehow I managed to keep myself from punching Severina directly in the face, but keeping back my flood of words wasn’t exactly that easy.

“You don’t know me at all! This is all part of some dark plan you’ve been plotting all the time. I’m the first air councelor for a big time, aren’t I? You’re trying to stop it. It’s all because of darkness. You did this, didn’t you?”
I spread my arms wide, looking up at the stormy clouds and the haze hanging around us.
For a second I could spot restrained anger on Severina’s face, but it wiped as soon into a mask of melancholy: immeasurable sadness. As I looked into her deep, dark eyes, I noticed her hair fluttered wildly around her, the trees around me had started to rustle.
“It saddens me to see how much you don’t know.”
I froze. The wind died, and I felt suddenly very hopeless and tired.

“Darkness isn’t how you picture it,” Severina stated. “It’s much, much more.”
Even worse?
“What, then?”
“I have things to teach you about balance.”
I wasn’t sure of what feeling had suddenly taken over me, but it had to be some form of trust. How come? I yet couldn’t imagine Severina suddenly taking Aurora’s place.

“But you sense it, too. That I’m a wind child.”
Severina laughed dryly. “No. I sense no draw of wind. That’s Aurora. She’s your guardian.”
My mind was a muddle. Severina had to be up to something, but what…

“There are some things that are meant to be, Hilary Messing. Do not think of me as your guardian, more as your mentor. Come back to the council with me at noon. After you have changed up.”
I noticed Severina was staring at my way of dressing: compared to the other council members I really did have a different style. Just like on Earth.

“Who else could help with you than your guardian?” Severina continued. “Go to her.”
“But how-“
Severina looked at me, her eyes the same level as mine, almost the same height as me. When she spoke she sounded exactly as Aurora. “Don’t ever question yourself, Hilary.”

Then she turned around, her black dress rustling as she walked towards a dark patch in my sight, covered in the haze. She was gone, and I stood alone on the shore of Ariel’s lake, stormy clouds over me, like holding back endless rain.
